Ezell’s Famous Chicken has been a Seattle restaurant staple for over 20. Ezell’s is family owned and operated, providing genuine high quality chicken from original Texas recipes and fast courteous service.
The story began when the family, moved to Seattle from Texas. Shortly thereafter together they decided that they’d start a business making chicken like they used to back home in Texas!
Lewis and the family saw their mission as simple: Provide FRESH high-quality chicken and GOOD homemade side dishes, served with FAST courteous service. In short, Ezell’s Famous Chicken had to be Fresh, Good and Fast!
It took six years of waiting for funding, but finally on February 3, 1984, the family, opened the first store in Seattle’s Central District at 501-23rd Avenue, across from Garfield High School. Since then they’ve been living their dream of owning and operating a successful chain of fried chicken restaurants.
They knew they had a product that the public would love. Their recipes called for using high quality ingredients and preparing everything fresh daily. All they had to do was get them to “just try it once,” and they would return for more.
Ezell’s Famous Chicken now operates 10 locations in the Pacific Northwest. The three newest locations include Lynnwood, Rainier Valley and Mill Creek.
What thrust Ezell’s in the national lime light is when Oprah visited Seattle, tasted Ezell’s Fried Chicken and deemed Ezell’s chicken the best-fried chicken she had ever tasted. Since that infamous visit Oprah has requested Lewis air ship fried chicken to her at multiple designations across the US.
